Golden Fields Yannoh 250gm

coffee is an organic coffee substitute recommended by the founder of the Japanese macrobiotic diet, George Oshawa, as a revitalising tonic.

Yannoh falls under the "yang" category of the macrobiotic diet. Yannoh is made up of two varieties of cereal grains, two varieties of pulses, and chicory roots. It has a strong full-bodied flavour.

Additional Information:

One of the basic rules of macrobiotics is to eat the food that grows around you. That is why we replaced ingredients commonly found in Japan by others growing in New Zealand - brown rice is replaced by naked barley, chick peas by marrow fat peas and azuki beans by broadbeans. This resulted in a very fine coffee substitute, a smooth and refreshing drink, with the various roasted elements complementing each other with their minerals and flavours, and reinforcing the coffee likeness.

Ingredients: All certified organic and grown in New Zealand

Naked barley, winter wheat, marrow fat peas, broad beans, chicory roots.

Directions:

  • Sachets: One sachet per cup, use preheated cup, pour boiling water, cover, infuse 5–10 minutes, squeeze sachet with teaspoon and stir.
  • Ground: One teaspoon loose ground per cup, or 15 grams per litre, simmer one minute or use percolator.
  • For a latte (cow or soy milk), a stronger brew may be necessary.
